Composition in Rust and Grey
by oneobserving
Despite the charm of the enclosed, pretty flower garden, I was attracted to the rusting metal panel secured to a surrounding brick wall. Its warm tones and weathered textures possess modest beauty but great character.
Divorced from their context, the timeworn metal and adjacent bricks appear almost unrecognizable, transformed into an abstract composition of irregular, mottled, rust and grey rectangles.
I love the colours of rust – and this is a great example – a great photo, I mean.
Thank you. I am delighted you enjoyed the photo. I can understand your love for the colours of rust – on the day I took the photo, the flower garden was blooming with bright and beautiful colours, but the rust still stole the show.
You did a beautiful job of composing this photo – and the colors are great together.
I appreciate your kind comment. I am pleased that you found the photo interesting. It did take a bit of looking before I felt I had the composition I wanted.
I also like the color combinations. And it has a certain toughness that I admire.
I like your thought about the “toughness.” A good observation. It is interesting to hear others’ thoughts and feelings. Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed the photo and its colours.
I adore this. It reminds me of some mixed media paintings I have seen. Like everyone else has already said the colours are incredible.
Thank you, Laura, for your comment. I like that it reminds you of mixed media.
Great composition-amazing always how the everyday can be transformed into something worth a second look-
Yes, I think that is the joy and wonder of photography. I enjoy your thoughts and comments.
